Education & Women Development Department

The social welfare Department aims at providing better Social Milieu by helping the neglected, handicapped and socially disadvantaged people in the field of non formal education, adult literacy women development and welfare of the people at provincial level through SWD and at district level through its community development department. it plays a key role in assisting the citizens in forming and strengthening the community organizations to create and enabling environment where they could participate in planning monitoring and management at the local level. In order to achieve this goal the AGRP-B Project is assisting the Department in its institutional capacity assessment and capacity development plans. The aim is to facilitate the department in policy support in terms of review of the Rules of Business, Organizational Structure, and capacity development Plans.

This objective is achieved through use of techniques and methods, which are designed to enable individuals, groups and communities to solve their problems and left needs through.

Mission of the Department

    • An inclusive environment where all people are able to participate in the social and economic life of their communities.
    • Enhancement of status of women to promote women rights, and show active participation at all levels on the basics of equity with men and to serve as an agent in the society.
    • Optimal development of persons with disabilities for the realization of their full potential in all walks of life, especially in the areas of Health, Education, Social, Economic and Vocational needs, for the fulfillment of the present as well as future requirement.

AGRP-B Interventions

AGRP-B is conducting four separate studies for Department for its Institutional Capacity Assessment and Development in the following four areas

    • Social Welfare Department
    • Women Development
    • Non Formal Education and Adult Literacy
    • Special Education

The project has also assisted the Department in framing its Annual Training Plan. One Week Training on Basic IT was conducted by the Project for the Officers and Staff of the Social Welfare Department and EDOs Community Development of the Six Project focused Districts. The Project Would be Facilitating two trainings per Quarter for the department as per their annual training Plan. (Annual Tanning Plan).


Another Intervention of AGRP-B Project in Social Welfare Department is the establishment of IT Cell for initiating of NGOMIS in the Directorate of the Social Welfare Department Quetta. The Idea of NGOMIS was floated in the First technical committee meeting of the Social Welfare Department. The project responded to the demand based intervention of the department and established an IT Cell in the Directorate of SWD. More over to get the stake holder on board for reviewing the NGOMIS proposal a Workshop was held in Quetta and inputs of the stake holders was incorporated in the revised NGO/CSO Registration form. After the Approval of the competent authority the revised Registration form was shared with all the EDO CDs of the province. Subsequently the information regarding the registered NGOs/CSOs with EDO CD was entered in the NGOMIS application. The Website can be accessed at
